Pulse of the HealthTech Sector: 2024 Business Survey

The 2024 Pulse of the Sector survey, conducted by CPI and ABHI, sheds light on the current state of the UK HealthTech industry—an industry at a pivotal moment. The survey reveals the sector’s resilience in providing life-enhancing technologies and maintaining significant employment across the UK. However, it also faces significant regulatory challenges and NHS barriers continuing to slow innovation.

Despite these significant hurdles, the UK HealthTech industry remains optimistic about its future. More than 30% of surveyed companies are planning to expand their R&D and manufacturing operations within the UK. The sector has also expressed strong support for the MHRA’s proposed framework for international recognition and reliance, with four times as many companies backing it over other government initiatives.

CPI and ABHI are calling for immediate action to break down these barriers, ensuring that UK HealthTech can flourish in a globally competitive market. Removing these obstacles is not only vital for the sector's growth but will also benefit the NHS, patients, and the broader economy.
