CPI welcomes Katie Murray to Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre team
CPI are delighted to welcome Katie Murray to the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre team. Katie will join CPI on a 2 year secondment from AstraZeneca as Technology Director of the centre starting in early 2020. Katie will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the technology strategy, she will work closely with the team to enable the development of scientific knowledge and practice within the centre.
CPI partners with ImmunoBiology Ltd to manufacture heat-stabilised Pneumococcal vaccine formulation
CPI today announced a partnership with ImmunoBiology Ltd (ImmBio), Cambridge, to develop a heat-stabilised formulation for ImmBio’s multi-antigen vaccine candidate against Pneumococcal diseases. This will eliminate the requirement for a costly and complex cold chain, helping to reduce the cost of the vaccine and increase accessibility in LMICs (Low and Middle Income Countries) where cold chains may be lacking.
Visiting PhD students get an insight into careers in formulation technology
CPI hosted group of first year PhD students who are part of the EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Soft Matter for Formulation and Industrial Innovation. The students visited CPI’s Coxon Building at Netpark, Sedgefield to understand more about CPI and the innovation process, with a focus on science and technology relating to formulation and materials.
CPI partners with MFC Foundation to deliver ‘Meaningful Encounters’ community outreach programme
CPI has partnered with the MFC Foundation to deliver the ‘Chris Dowle Meaningful Encounters’ programme for students at Thornaby Academy in Teesside. Launching in October, the programme will encourage and inspire young people in the North East to start considering their career options and professional development pathways available.

CPI accelerates gene therapy development with robust adeno-associated virus purification system
CPI today announces the success of its CRD IUK project to develop a scalable, cost-effective purification process for adeno-associated viruses (AAVs), in partnership with Cobra Biologics and GE Healthcare Life Sciences. The new process will remove a significant bottleneck in the development of gene therapies, and enable these innovative products to be brought to market more quickly.
