In this blog, we’re meeting Placement Student, Alexander Greer, who joined CPI for a summer as part of his Computational Biology degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before heading back to the USA.
What do you do at CPI?
My placement at CPI involves me working on a project called Lab Connect, which entails connecting lots of different equipment across the labs here to help in design experimentation and data collection.
What did you do before joining CPI?
I’m originally from Philadelphia (PA, USA) and I’ve been studying Computational Biology at MIT (MA, USA).
Why did you join CPI?
What appealed to me most about a placement at CPI was the interdisciplinary work that’s done here. No two projects are ever the same, so it means that there’s always plenty to learn across lots of different industries.
What do you like about working at CPI?
In all honesty – everything! But if I had to pick just one thing, I’d say interacting with so many different people who have so many different experiences and backgrounds. The opportunity to learn from them has been fantastic. I would recommend a placement at CPI to anyone! You’ll learn a lot along the way but mostly, you’ll make a real impact in the world.
