What do you do at CPI?
I’m a Learning and Development Business Partner within the HR team. I work closely with other teams across the organisation to support them with tasks such as team communication, development plans, training and apprenticeships.
What did you do before joining CPI?
I studied for a degree in Textiles and Surface Design at the University of Sunderland before moving on to do a postgraduate degree in Education. I then worked in secondary education, teaching engineering and food technology for 5 years.
Why did you join CPI?
I had an enforced career break due to major surgery and the subsequent recovery. After this period, I decided that I needed a career change. My teaching background in STEM had given me lots of opportunities to engage with industry so I knew CPI and could definitely see myself working there!
I reached out to my networks and was invited to interview for a role in CPI’s data team. I then moved into learning and development, which seems a natural fit after so many years in education!
What do you like about working at CPI?
Working at CPI is so incredibly varied; every day is a school day! The people and the culture at CPI have been instrumental in helping me to feel comfortable in a work environment, which was so important after my operation.
